I dream my painting... / Sueño mi pintura...

“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.”
― Vincent van Gogh

Ah, the muses! Those elusive ladies! They seldom show up when one invites them as they'd rather appear at unusual hours, often at bedtime.

Such dissimile things as the steps of a dance, sun rays glimmering on the grass or an old postcard found in a drawer might awake inspiration. A color, a textur, a flavor might trigger creativity...Eureka! There it was! This is a moment of illumination and euphoria. So easy...or is it? Being constantly surprised by the little things helps pave the way for the muses' visit, but it doesn't suffice. The road that transforms a spark of enthusiasm into a concept and later into the design of a piece -not to talk about its materialisation- is frequently long and winding.  Proportion and finish will be later appreciated without consciously acknowledging them.

The muses never warn us about possible complications or issues that need urgent solving: the world of ideas clashes with the factic world.  The process has less than pretty stages, much like the caterpillar that gets ready to morph into a butterfly. Long hours of hammering, soldering, polishing -sometimes with the ensuing burns- are required in the making of a beautiful jewelry piece. The final result -a necklace, a ring in its tiny box- is only the tip of the iceberg.

“Sueño mi pintura y pinto mi sueño.”
― Vincent van Gogh

¡Ah, las musas! ¡Esas damas elusivas!
